Recently a friend of mine started her own Image Consulting business and I got my first look at the world of making people look good (in more ways than just dressing up!) But, one thing that I noticed in her business was the lack of understanding among people about "Image" and what constitutes making of an image for oneself.
When you go shopping, do you just pick up clothes because of the color you love? Or maybe the style looked good on Shahrukh Khan or Aishwarya Rai? Or maybe because it's the "new" trend? Did you ever wonder if it would look good on you? I guess mostly the answer to this question is a resounding NO. Yet we all go to the stores and buy clothes that may not look good on us every day...what a waste! This is where these "Image Consultants" come in.
My friend, Lia Mukherjee, says, "Don't confuse Image Consulting with Fashion Design. In Image Consulting we look at improving you from head to toe, which might include a color analysis, a wardrobe makeover, even a haircut," she laughes adding, "and remember...Image is YOU," emphasizing on the you and giving me a look from head to toe!! I eagerly submitted myself to her and 6 months later, I find a huge change in myself. I'm looking 10 years younger (Ha ha.....maybe I am exxagerating here!!) but definitely a new me.
Looking good doesn't have to cost lots of money. Really! it is but a wiser choice of clothing and colors. I'm not sure about you, but many a times in my life I have always wanted someone to tell me how to look good. We don't have the luxury of the witch's magic mirror (though it is not as truthful as we would like it to be from what we know from the Snow White story) but now we all have an option--Image Consultants--armed with their knowledge of color, clothing and creations to tell us.
Anyway, look them up online. There are some--not many--that are working away at their professions tirelessly even though they don't make the millions that Fashion Designers do.
From the little I know, I'm going to educate you on the "Image Consulting" process and how it works in the next few blog posts. So hang in there and keep reading,,,,,
